The Clockwork Princess

First of all, when I realized that it was a trilogy (after I finished reading it) I was not happy.
This is pretty much how I felt. Anyway, this review will probably be pretty short. So first off, Jem. Why did he not get married to Tessa sooner? Although, I get what Ms. Clare was doing. If Tessa did end up marrying Jem, then she might have had some guilt or whatever. Anyway, I am so glad that Jem did not die, but became a Silent Brother. The Silent Brothers creep me out, but this was the only way Jem could stay alive, even if he couldn't stay with Tessa or Will.

Will. This man, declaring his love for Tessa like that? Oh man, I had to take a minute after reading it. Will is such a beautiful man and I am glad that we got a chance to see his true self in this book. Granted, I missed his remarks about everything, and agree with Tessa that he shouldn't be all loving all the time. Personally, I don't want to be smothered with love, but sprinkled with it. However, I am not a character in this book and this isn't all about me.

I feel like Will moved in when Tessa was vulnerable. She turned to him because she was grieving, as was he. She did love Will while engaged to Jem, so it wasn't completely bad that she spent the night with Will, but it seemed inappropriate right after Jem died. But that was their decision. I am happy that they both got their happy ever after, especially after Will grew old and passed away. I don't know how Tessa could deal, watching her own children grow old and have their own children and grandchildren while she didn't age or aged slowly. I never understood that about immortal people (not vampires, I get that they pretty much freeze at their age.) But she does get her happy ever after in the end with Jem. So she did get a second chance to be happy with him, years after she was happy with Will.

Highly recommend this book, obviously if you have read the first two. I wish Ms. Clare would come out with a second one, but I understand that all stories must end at some point.

Thoughtless

Well, I finally finished the trilogy. That first sentence makes it seem like I trudged through reading these three books, but that is not the case. I only trudged towards the end because I didn't want it to be over. I went through such a dry spell with books that when I finally read these books, it was like S.C. Stephens handed me a huge glass of ice cold water.

So let me start with the first book. It was probably my least favorite out of the three because it was all about Keira and her feelings for both Kellan and Denny. I saw what her problem was. Denny was like her security blanket, but Kellan was a wild card, something completely new for her. So yes, it was hard for her to decide, but I just couldn't deal with her lying to Denny because he was much too good for all that. For most of the book, I just wanted to slap some sense into her and just tell her to break up with Denny. Yes, his heart was going to be broken, but the relationship they had was more friends with benefits and not a real relationship. What Keira had with Kellan was real, for the most part. It just frustrated me that she led Kellan on and continuously broke his heart while staying with Denny. Kellan had a rough childhood and nobody really loved him, so having Keira in his life, someone who could give him the companionship he deserved, was good for him. He should have pushed Keira to admit that she was cheating to Denny, but he loved her so much that he didn't. This is weird, but I was happy that Denny caught them. I know, it broke Denny's heart (as well as some of Kellan's bones and knocked Keira out), but Keira was having an affair behind Denny's back with his best friend, so it was only fair. Like other YA contemporary romance novels, relationships were broken/formed while in a hospital. Denny actually took everything better than I expected him too. When Keira and Kellan were finally together in the end, I was ecstatic and had to buy the second book.

Life isn't easy for a new rockstar, especially one in a relationship. Keira and Kellan's relationship is put to the test, learning that all relationships thrive on trust. Keira is having a hard time trusting Kellan with his past of sleeping with multiple girls a week. Kellan is scared that Keira will cheat while he is on tour because Keira cheated on Denny with Kellan while Denny was away for two months. With Kellan going on tour for six months, he is scared to lose her when he just got her. Of course, they talk on a daily basis and work on trusting each other, but when Kellan visits for Christmas, Keira gets a bit suspicious when Kellan gets a text from a private number. Although backing up a bit, when Keira is waiting for Kellan to arrive, she is sitting in a park when she gets a text saying that he couldn't make it. She started to cry (which she seems to do quite a bit, as did I throughout the book), she received a text telling her to stop crying. Keira thinks that Kellan just knows her and when she makes a comment out loud, she gets a reply. That happens again until she gets a text that tells her to turn around. Oh my gosh, that was the cutest thing ever because Kellan really was there. Anyway, back to the mysterious text, Kiera gets scared that Kellan is cheating and to add fuel to her fire, she watches a video of Kellan and his band performing which ends with some girl draping herself on Kellan. Kiera finally goes out and surprises Kellan at a concert where he puts her mind at ease about the mystery woman, but not the texts. Of course, Kiera is harboring her own secret of Denny returned to town. Keira eventually spills her secret and so does Kellan. In the end, they are happy and get married, not legally but in their hearts, in a bar where Keira first laid eyes on Kellan.

Book three got the lowest ratings, but was still amazing. In fact, I don't agree with it getting the lowest ratings. Keira joins Kellan on tour as his "wife," but of course, problems follow them. Sienna Sexton (really, what kind of last name is that?) wants to record one of the D-Bags songs and Kellan has no choice but to do it or his record label will kick him to the curb. So they record the song and to further promote the song and send the band to number one, Sienna and the record label decide to film a hot and steamy porno music video. Of course, Keira doesn't like it, but she is supportive and tells Kellan that it is okay. However, Keira is not okay with people saying that Kellan and Sienna are a couple, but she was told to keep her mouth shut. Eventually, Kellan gets fed up when a picture of Kellan and Keira kissing shows up on the cover of every tabloid and rumor site. Fans are giving Keira hate and Kellan hates it. So he goes onto a radio show and admits that he is not dating Sienna, but married in his heart to Keira. Once they leave the radio station, everyone wants to talk to Kellan and Keira, but there is too many people and Keira ends up in the street. Kellan blocks Keira from an oncoming tuck, resulting in him getting hurt pretty bad and rushed to the hospital. Keira doesn't leave Kellan's side the entire time he is in the hospital and decides that she wants to marry him in the hospital because the accident opened her eyes to see how short life is (pretty much what everyone says in a hospital). So on Thanksgiving day, Keira and Kellan get married. Kellan and the D-Bags take time off the tour so Kellan can recover. At the Grammys, right before Kellan and the D-Bags are announced the winners of their category, Keira leans over and whispers something into Kellan's ear. He goes up on stage and announces that he is going to be a father.

Overall, after the first book, I really enjoyed these books. Sorry for the delay getting this post up, but I finally finished it.

If you get a chance, check out these books. Kellan even won the NAAlley Crush Tourney. Congrats Kellan!

Chasing McCree

This book, what can I say about this book? I can say that I have never wanted a book to over more in my life. This book dragged out, chapters filling the pages with boring fluff. All the action was at the end when my head was elsewhere because of how boring the rest of the book was.

I have a bad habit of comparing books to each other. The one book that popped into my mind when reading this book was Lost and Found by Nicole Williams. Now I can't give this book too much crap on being similar considering it was published a month before Lost and Found. So instead of comparing it to Lost and Found, I will do the right thing and give this book its own review.

So to start, why not buy a ranch in Florida, Chase? That would solve some problems. You could even move your family business down to Florida. Why you didn't do that, I have no idea. Secondly, you are a hero on horseback. I would love to stumble into you while walking around at night (although I wouldn't be walking around at night alone and would probably run away from any stranger on horseback).

Briar, what the heck is wrong with you? Honestly, I thought you were going to be stuck up and not want anything to do with Chase when you woke up sober at his house. I think that would have made the book more interesting. Like you are stuck up and enjoy being friends with those losers and are all for marrying Alex like your parents want. Then, Chase comes into your live and you can't get him out of your head.  Then, when he leaves for Montana, you are upset that he left and your friends get upset because you just aren't into anything anymore. So they ditch you and you decide to go to Montana to find Chase since you can't get him out of your mind. You find him, tell him you can't stop thinking about him but he doesn't want anything to do with you since you had your chance and threw it away. You stay on the ranch to prove to him you changed and he slowly falls for you as you continue to fall for him. Eventually you are both head over heels (or in this case, boots) for each other and then the story continues on, people wanting to sabotage the ranch and buy it from Chase. I think that would have made the story more interesting.

To me, this story was really plain and boring and a bit predictable, especially when the author made huge hints about everything, making it very easy to see what would happen next. However, this is just my opinion and plenty of other people seemed to really like this book.

Overall, 3-3.5 stars.

My Life Next Door

When I first read the back cover of this book in some book store at a St. Louis outlet mall, I wanted to buy it right there, even though I didn't have any money on me. Okay, so I wanted my mom to buy it for me right there, especially since I was about to finish the book I had brought with me for the trip (I ended up reading 5 books on the trip). Of course she told me to rent it from the library, but after reading the back cover, I knew that it was a book that I had to own. Now that I own it, I am not sure it that was the best idea. I mean, the idea for the story wasn't bad, but the back cover made it sound so much better than it really was. I was expecting a forbidden romance (which it was), but not some mom who doesn't even pay attention to her own daughter's life and lets some yahoo guy from the south manipulate her life. It the mom had been more involved in her daughter's life, then the story would have been more interesting because she would be on her daughter's case more (even though she is the State Senator).

Jase, the average next door neighbor, although I wouldn't know if he is really the "Average" next door neighbor considering I don't have a hot neighbor or even know my neighbors. Anyway, he climbs up Samantha's trellis one night to get to her hiding spot on the roof where she watches the Garrets. If some cute next door neighbor guy climbed up to my roof, I don't know if I would be scared and punch him down or just allow him up and talk to me. I mean, I guess I would let him stay if he was cute and my gut wasn't telling me to punch him down. So anyway, after he climbs up the trellis to meet Samantha, her life is turned upside down.

Since Samantha's mom isn't as involved in Samantha's life, she can pretty much do whatever she wants (to an extent). She still has to attend whatever events her mom drags her to, but other than that, she is free. I wanted to punch Samantha's mom so badly and just knock some sense into her. She let some southern guy come in and pretty much ruin the fragile relationship between Samantha and her mother, if you can even call it a relationship. I think a lot of problems wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for Clay. What kind of name is Clay anyway?

Then there is Tim. For a while there, I thought she would end up with Tim, but then go back to Jase, but she didn't. Tim is the guy who doesn't put up with any B.S. He seems like the bad guy, but he really isn't, which is evident towards the end when he helps Samantha solve her problems with Jase and her mom. Tim really grew on me, while his sister Nan just bothered me. I didn't like her from the start, maybe it was because her name is Nan (check out my review for the Too Far series and you will see why). I guess I will forever associate the name Nan with annoying girls. So if your name is Nan and you aren't annoying, I am sorry.

All in all, there wasn't as much romance as I thought, no forbidden romance, and too many problems. Overall, I give this book 3.5-4 star rating. For sure a summer read.

The Distance Between Us

When I was reading the reviews for this book, I saw one that said this book is quite cliche, and after reading this book, I have to agree. However, their review stated that this book was similar to another book she had read. So I read it, keeping an open mind and ignoring all reviews I had read.

This book is set apart from other contemporary romance books in my mind, especially since I have never heard something like this happen, although it could happen. I guess a guy could continually come to a store if one of the workers catches their eye. Since it is a doll store, it would be about weird for this guy to continuously return to the store. However, because Caymen recommends a nearby cafe to Xander, he returns with hot chocolate in tow for Caymen and walks her to school every day for a week. Slowly they get to know each other and come up with unique ideas for "career days."

Sorry this post is a bit short, but this book was a very simple, standard contemporary YA romance novel. Looking for a summer read? Then look to this book, great for a trip to the beach or long car ride. 3.5-4 Stars for this book

The Secret Of Ella and Micha & The Forever Of Ella and Micha

What can I say about these books? I mean, it was good, but I'm really confused about everything. Ella's mom died and she runs away? Is it because she blames herself for her mom's death or couldn't handle everything that happened? I don't understand her pain, but I do understand her wanting to run away from it all. There were such high reviews for this book so I thought I would give it a try. I also saw it as a recommendation for "If you liked Beautiful Disaster." Well,  I LOVED Beautiful Disaster so of course this book really caught my interest. However, I was disappointed because I thought it was going to be somewhat similar to B.D., so when I read it and realized it wasn't, I put it down for a while.

Of course, that while was about ten hours while I slept. Then, I woke up and starting reading, giving the book a second chance, knowing that it was nothing like B.D. So I read, and read, and read, finishing the book within the day and buying the second one, finishing that in half a day.

Micha, oh Micha, why can't I have someone like you as my next door neighbor? You are super supportive of Ella and never give up on her, even when she ran away. You looked for her for eight months and finally got her back. Once you got her back, you never let her go. *swoon!*

Ella, WHY DON'T YOU SEE WHAT AN AWESOME GUY MICHA IS?!?!?! Girl, this guy would do anything for you, yet you won't let him in! He is willing to listen and be there for you, yet you shut him out? WHY? I think that is what bothered me the most. I am not one for being a wimp and crying all the time, but this beautiful man is willing to be your rock, allowing you to cry on his shoulder and talk to him because he wants you better as much as you want to be better. Get that through your head!

Anyway, one I got over everything, this book got so much better. Although, Ella did get on my nerves from time to time because she pushed away anyone who tried to get in and never tried to fix her relationship with her brother and father. Her father was an alcoholic and she allows it to go on and not even think about checking him into rehab. Goodness. She finally does in book two.

All in all, I enjoyed these two books. Of course, the third book is from Ethan and Lila's POV, which irks me. I wish there was more to Ella and Micha's story, but all stories must end at some point. My favorite part of the entire two books was when Micha made the promise to Ella and gave her the ring. She was allowed to move it to her ring finger whenever she was ready, which was the sweetest thing. Micha knew that Ella wasn't ready to settle down, but he wanted to keep her from running away from him again. So he came up with the idea of allowing her to decide when she was ready to become his wife. If I had her problems and someone did this for me, I would probably marry them on the spot because this is the cutest thing! ^.^

Highly recommended!

The Clockwork Prince

WIll. Jem. Ms Clare, why must you create two wonderful characters and make Tessa choose between them? I thought I could choose between the two of these characters, but it wasn't possible. Anyway, this book was much better than the first in my opinion. It had so much more going on because it wasn't just introducing the characters and building them up, which is what the first book consisted of. This book did have a slower start for me, especially since I was trying to remember what happened in the first book. Around page 250, it really picked up. However, once it picked up, I wasn't able to put it down.

Will. What can I say about this broken young man. Living with what he has, I just wanted to pull him out of the book and into 2013 and make him realize that everything will be okay. Having to push those that care for you away, I don't understand why or how people can do it. Will has to (or at least thinks he does) to protect them from himself, but they really didn't need to be pushed away. (Sorry, you'll have to read the book to see what I mean.) Oh Will, you are the wild one who intrigues Tessa. Why did you have to push her away for so long? You could have had her if you kept her close. But, you became such a wonderful character and continued to amaze me.

Jem. Even through your sickness, you are strong and beautiful, pulling in Tessa when she is pushed away by Will. That was what made me skeptical about you. When Tessa was vulnerable after everything that transpired between her and Will, you were there as a shoulder for her to lean on, even though she is a strong young lady. It was like she was drawn to you because you didn't push her away, but what if Will figured out everything sooner? Woud she still turn to you or would she ultimately go to Will? Especially if she has to convine herself of her feelings and that she is doing the right thing.

Yeah, I know, this book isn't heavy on the romance and I focused on it, but hey, hopeless romantic, this pulled me in. As to the rest of the story, the Magister is still making everyone's life miserable. He turns Tessa's brother (who really isn't her brother at all) against her, and makes one of the Institute's own turn against them. And he still wants Tessa, to marry(?) or to carry out some evil plan of taking down the Clave and Institute or whatever. Tessa, Will, and Jem are no closer to finding him than they were when the book first began and have lost all leads (especially when Tessa's "brother" dies). A war is looming the future between the Shadowhunters and the clockwork machines. There is some connection between  Tessa's necklace that her brother told her to always keep on and the clockwork machines that the Magister is building. I have some ideas, but feel like they are wrong. Now I just need to wait for the next book to arrive to see if I was right or wrong.

Wither

I know, I know, I finish like a book a day, get over it. I enjoy reading and there are plenty of other things I could be doing with my life...

Anyway, this book is unlike anything I have ever read. Granted, I have read dystopia books, but this one is so much different. For one thing, girls die at age 20 and boys die at age 25. I am assuming this happened because scientists were trying to find a cure for cancer and ended up reducing everyone's life span. Thank you science. Anyway, some creepy guys, called the Gatherers, gather girls and pretty much sell them to men. These girls end up in polygamous relationships and call the other girls in the marriage "sister wives." Since the guy has anywhere from three to seven wives, he can have more children. Considering a woman only lives to age 20, as soon as their body is capable of baby making, they are impregnated. WTF? I mean I understand woman aren't living long, but at least wait until they are 15 or something, not 13. Nasty.

So the main character, Rhine, has a twin brother and they get separated when Rhine is sent off to marry Linden. Linden seems like the bad guy at first, but he really ins't, it is his creepy father (from the "First Generation" so he still has a normal lifespan). Now, Linden doesn't win any space in my heart, unlike Gabriel. He is the one who really catches Rhine's eye. She even tells him that she won't run away without him, even if she has to take him, kicking and screaming (awww). Linden's father, however, doesn't want Rhine running away because she has brought life back into Linden after his first wife died.  Of course, Rhine wants to run away since she saw Linden's first wife die (she became close friends with her) and then the oldest sister wife (who Rhine also grows close to) dies as well. Rhine also discovers that the ashes Linden is given of his two dead wives aren't even their ashes. Rhine figures this out and wants to get out as fast as she can.

4.5 stars on this book. Once you get over the fact that people are dying at such a young age, the book is actually really good!

Fairy Bad Day

I was a bit skeptical of this book, based on its ratings (less than 4 stars) but I am glad that I read it, especially considering it I finished it in a day. This books reminded me of Hex Hall (if you have read this book, I highly suggest Hex Hall). But there were some major differences, which made them their own book.

I really like books like this because they are action, but have a touch of romance. With this case, there is Curtis Green, your average high school, dragon slayer guy. He gets the dragon slayer position, which is the position that Emma wants so she can follow in the footsteps of her dead dragon slayer mother. Emma decides that Curtis is her archenemy without even getting to know him, all because he got the position that she wanted.

Emma gets the position of fairy slayer and hates it. Of course, something happens that makes her enjoy her position and not give it up when the Principal allows her to switch positions. But, you will just have to read the book to find out what happens. (; (Sorry, no big spoilers in this review!)

Cruise Green. He is not swoon worthy in my opinion, but he is someone I would want to go to my school. Considering this book isn't all about the romance, nothing too hot and heavy happens between Cruise and Emma, just a few stolen kisses here and there (Cruise actually regrets one, especially since he has a big secret!). Other than that, the L word isn't said at all.

I would give this book 3.5-4 stars. Looking for a book filled with fairies, dragons, and big evil fairies (oh my!), then I would read this book. A book that could be easily read in one day (I did it!).

Hush, Hush

I normally wouldn't write a blog post until I finished reading a book, however, in this case I needed to write the blog post. I have seen mixed reviews for this book, especially on Goodreads. The book page says it received an average of 4 stars, but the top reviews are all one star ratings. I know this book came out a while ago and I am late reading it, but I heard such great reviews from people who have read it. I am close to the end, nearly 3/4 done) but I just can't figure out what is going on. One review said that this was a rip off of Twilight, but I see no relationship between this book and Twilight.

This book reminds me of Fallen by Lauren Kate. There is the mysterious guy (in this case, Patch) who the Nora can't figure out. People tell her to stay away, but she can't, no matter what. Now, like I said, I haven't finished yet, but I have two scenarios for the ending of this book. 1) It will end like Fallen where they get together, but can't be together or 2) Something will happen (I just have no idea what).

I really think that Nora is onto something as she investigates Elliot. There is something off about him. Or maybe, Becca is making him seem that way, when he is just a normal guy. I have seen that happen in other books and I hate it. I really hate being wrong when my gut is telling me that I am right. Who knows? Unless you have read the book, then you know (;

Well, I will try and finish the book because I really want to see what happens in the end. I am really confused about the break-ins and falling off of coasters and stuff that keeps happening to Nora as well as who this creepy guy/girl in the ski mask is.

I will update this as soon as I finish!

*UPDATE*

Ok, so I finished the book and was completely wrong about everything. I'm really confused right now, was Patch the good guy or bad guy? Either way, Elliot wasn't the bad guys, Jules was. Didn't see that coming. So it did end somewhat like Fallen in the aspect of Patch being an angel, but he could be with Nora (SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ FALLEN) unlike Luce and Daniel. Anyway, I liked the ending once everything started to come together and make sense. Maybe I'll continue on with the series. Hopefully the next one is better!

Someone to Love *SOME SPOILERS*

Well, what can I say about this story? This book took a while to get into. The summary of the book makes the book sound better than it is. Like other books with slow beginnings, this one finally picks up in the middle when they finally get together. There wasn't as much tension between them as I thought their would be, but there was the concept of love at first sight. That drew me in a bit, considering I believe in love at first sight. Yes, as I said in my other post, I am a hopeless romantic, so I am a sucker for books that deal with love at first sight. However, I had higher hopes for this book. Girl wants to become a slut, guy is willing to teach the girl, but ends up falling for siad girl and isn't willing to let her go.

So one part that I really enjoyed in this book was the hair dresser. She made me laugh at everything she did and said. I probably looked really stupid as I read that part of the book at the dinner table. Holding in laughter=Not a cute face. I wish she was in the book longer, but she didn't really have a major role in the book. In fact, I think it was more of a filler chapter than anything.

So, like most YA romance novels, there was an opposing force to the relationship between Cruise and Kendall and that was Cruise's ex-girlfriend, Blair. I thought that Blair would have been more of a problem, and she was at the end of the book when she exposed everything that Cruise and Kendall did, but they got back together pretty quickly and easily. I thought that there would have been more of a problem with their relationship, but their wasn't. Cruise siad somethings that made Kendall run back into his arms.

Looking at Goodreads, it says that this is book one so I was expecting the breakup to transfer over to the second book, if there is a second book. The book ended really quickly so maybe the author has more in store for the next book. I am really hoping that if there is another book, it still follows Kendall and Cruise, not some other characters. I didn't really like any of the other characters, so if there is another book and it is a spinoff, then I won't be reading it.

I give this book 3.5 stars. If you need something to read, then I would point you in the direction of this book.

Too Far Series

Well, I haven't posted in a while. I meant to stay on top of this blog and post after every book I read, but that obviously didn't happen. So I will just do this book series that I finished in two days. Yup, three books, two days. Now, this book is NOT for young readers who think they can read YA novels. Nope,  this is really for YA readers. But anyway, I'll get to reviewing the book before I get distracted and move on to doing other things.

So, for starters, I have developed a Rush Crush. This man, I have no words for him. In the beginning, I hated him. But, like every other YA romance novel, he is the bad boy and Blaire is the sweet, innocent girl who falls for him and his bad boy ways. It is just weird that their are step-siblings. I know that they aren't blood related, but they are family so its a bit weird. Once I overcame that weirdness, the book got better. Scratch that, the book got amazing. I was hooked, which led me to finish all three books in just a few days.

Man oh man, I want to meet a Rush. Once he falls for Blaire, he falls. He does everything he can to protect her and provide for her. He just wants her to be happy. Maybe I am just a HUGE hopeless romantic, but I really want a Rush. Everything he does, is for Blaire. If he makes a mistake, he does EVERYTHING he can to make up for it or make it better.

Again, the author did something that I didn't really like (SPOLIER), but she made it better and almost like a life lesson, NEVER HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX. I saw it coming a mile away, but wasn't sure if the author was going to take that path. Low and behold, she took that path, which just added to the craziness of Blaire and Rush's life.

Now, like every YA romance novel, there is bound to be some force that tries to keep them apart or break them up and that is Rush's real sister, Nan. With a name like Nan, I could tell she was going to be (excuse my language) a bitch. From the get go, I hated her. She was just annoying and a cry baby, which really came out in the third book. She is one of those girls where everything has to be all about her or she will throw a temper tantrum.

Overall, 5 stars for all three books, maybe even 6 for the third book where Rush sings to Blaire and the author actually gets an amazing singer to sing the song (cue swooning and crying). I really wish the author would come out with a forth book and never end the series, but all good things come to an end. I highly recommend this book for hopeless romantics like myself. You will not be disappointed by this book. However, if for some crazy reason you are, don't blame me, I loved the book.

Looking for Alaska- John Green

I always love finding new, different books to read. I will read one genre-say romance- and then get bored because it is the same old story, girl meets guy, guy is a badboy whom everyone says stay away from, girl doesn't listen, but plays hard to get, boy falls for girl, girl falls for guy and then they live happily ever after and their story ends, or a sequel comes out. So once I was able to predict the ending, I was on the search for new books, but not giving up the young adult romantic novel, being a hopeless romantic at heart. One day when mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, I see that someone I follow posted a picture of a book and the comments where all raving about how fantastic the book was. The person who posted the picture is related to a singer so of course everyone loved the book or was going to read it right away in hopes of gaining their attention. Being the book lover that I am, I just had to look up this book and see what all the hype was about.

Looking for Alaska was not what I was excepting. It took me a while to pick it up and start reading it, but I just didn't know what to expect. Barnes and Noble had such great reviews for it-almost five stars- while Goodreads was sitting at just over four stars. With the due date drawing closer and closer, I broken down and started reading. And reading. And reading. If we went somewhere, the book came with me. I finally put the book down and just sat there in awe. This author that nobody had ever heard about, a history teacher on YouTube, had just opened my eyes to a whole new genre of books.

Starting off, I hate books that don't have chapters because as my eyes start to droop late at night, I always say "one more chapter, one more chapter." But maybe it's a good thing this book didn't have chapters because it made me keep reading. I was curious as to why Mr. Green set it up to start over one hundred days before. Well, before what? So naturally I kept reading until I got to the day after. I was confused and in shock. No, he wouldn't do that. I went back and re-read the few days before and he did! At that point I was ready to throw the book and the wall and cry my eyes out, but I didn't. I don't really cry over books, but this brought me close to tears. Now, at this point, if you haven't read the book, you are probably curious as to what is going on. I can't spill too much because it would give the book away. But I can discuss other parts of the book.

So, if you aren't into reading about teenagers doing drugs, then I would avoid this book. I am not for teenagers doing drugs, or anyone doing illegal drugs for that matter, but it is part of the book and that was Mr. Green's decision so I don't question him on why he did it. There isn't much else to say about this book without giving much away, but I would definitely check this book out if you are at a loss for books to read. Now, I am not saying that this is a book to read when you are bored. I am saying that if you need a book to read, turn to this one. It is short and only took me about a day and a half.

Read on!
